Product Description

Australis PerfectPrep is a Ultra Premium Pure Acrylic Sealer, Primer and Undercoat all-in-one product. PerfectPrep can be used for interior and exterior surfaces. PerfectPrep’s unique formulation requires no sanding on gloss enamels. PerfectPrep will provide excellent adhesion on most surfaces. The product is low odour and easy to apply without messy spatter.

Areas of Use

Designed for interior and exterior surfaces. PerfectPrep is suitable for direct application to all types of timber, masonry, brick, fibre cement, gyprock, vinyl & aluminium sidings, ceramic tiles, laminates and galvanised iron etc.

Method of Application

  • Brush, roller or spray
  • Satisfactory with most equipment
  • Observe the State Spray Painting Regulations
  • Stir well before use using a broad flat paddle in a scooping motion
  • Do not apply if temperature is below 10C or likely to fall below 10C during drying & relative humidity will exceed 80%
  • Do not apply if rain is expected or in hot dry conditions

Coverage

Approximately 16 square metres per litre. Coverage will vary depending on the profile and porosity of the painted surface.

Thinning

Water – Use up to 50ml per litre to aid application if necessary in hot dry conditions.

Drying (25C and 50% Relative Humidity)

  • Dry touch in 30 Minutes
  • Re-coat in 1 Hour

Surface Preparation

Prepainted Surfaces

Ensure surface to be painted is sound (see soundness below). Remove all traces of dirt, grease, oil, smoke deposits and any other contaminates. Remove all flaking and peeling material. Fill all imperfections with appropriate filler. Spot bare/repaired areas with Australis PerfectPrep prior to applying a full coat. Next, dust down and apply one coat of Australis PerfectPrep followed by finish coats.

New Timber

Sand all greying timber. Fill all imperfections with appropriate filler, sand, dust down and apply one coat of Australis PerfectPrep followed by two coats of finish coats. Sand all dressed timber.

Brick, Masonry, Cement Render and Fibre Cement

Ensure surface to be painted is free from all contaminants, including mould, moss, lichen, efflorescence etc. Dust off and apply one coat of Australis PerfectPrep followed by finish coats. Cement Render must be allowed to cure for 28 days prior to application of Australis PerfectPrep and subsequent finish coats.

Galvanised Steel, Zincalum, Aluminium(Corrosion Free)

Ensure surface to be painted is free from contaminants, including dirt, grease, oil etc. New Galvanised Steel and Zincalume may be left to weather prior to painting. If to be painted immediately, they should should be thoroughly degreased using non metallic scourers and Mineral Turps. Surface should be thoroughly washed down with detergent solution followed by clean water. Apply one coat of Australis PerfectPrep followed by finishing coats.

Vinyl and Aluminium Sidings

Ensure surface to be painted is free from contaminants, including dirt, grease, oil etc. Chalking material should be thoroughly removed with non metallic scourers and detergent solution, followed by clean water. Care should be exercised so as not to score existing coating by harsh scouring. Apply one coat of Australis PerfectPrep followed by finish coats.

Ceramic Tiles, Laminates, Gloss Enamel

Ensure surfaced to be painted is free from contaminants, including grease, oil and soap scum. Apply one coat of Australis PerfectPrep followed by finish coats. PerfectPrep is not intended for use in areas subject to water flows and/or steam as in shower recesses etc.

Soundness

To determine the soundness of the surface to be painted, cut a small “X” in the paint film with a sharp instrument, firmly apply cello tape and sharply remove. Any evidence of the paint film adhering to the tape is indicative of an unsound surface. This process should be carried out at several locations to test the entire surface.
